With the architects that you shortlist look at their portfolio online. Look at the work they have done in the local area. Architects should work with you not against you so find one that fits your style. They will have a walk round your house and get a view of your style and will work with you to get a loft conversion you can be proud of. The ideas they can come up with at first can seem a little off the wall, but we would say work with it and keep an open mind. Don’t Get Rid Of Your Storage

Most of us use the loft for a place for dumping, storing boxes and kit of various sorts. Creating a great living space in the loft is an opportunity to create a wardrobe or cupboards also ensuring you don’t completely get rid of the storage. Timescales For Project Completion

Your project completion will depend on the space you are working with and what you are doing with your loft. At the time of writing, builders are massively in demand and a good builder will not/or should not be readily available. A good builder will have a string of projects they will be working with. We are usually booked up for approximately 6 months in advance. This is a good benchmark. If you are starting a project remember to allow for a couple of months for the architects and submission of plans to your local planning authority. Depending if there is a requirement for the conservation offices to get involved, you can expect a plan to take between 8 and 12 weeks if unopposed. This obviously can take longer if the plan requires changes. Approx 65% of plans go through first time.
